Newly created Senior Legal Counsel opportunity with a well-established ASX-listed business.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this is a broad legal role offering significant autonomy and exposure across the business, as well as the opportunity to mentor a Junior Legal Counsel.
n
With a strong pipeline of growth initiatives, expanding product offerings and a diverse portfolio of leading financial services clients, the role offers excellent breadth and the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders as the business continues to grow.

The Opportunity
n
Working closely with the General Counsel, your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Advising on a broad range of commercial, corporate and strategic legal matters.
n
Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreements.
n
Supporting fund launches
n
Advising on managed investment schemes, responsible entity obligations and broader financial services regulation.
n
Supporting Board and governance processes.
n
Partnering closely with the Risk & Compliance team on regulatory matters including AFSL, AML/CTF, privacy and DDO obligations.
n
Managing external legal advisers where required.
n
Supervising and mentoring a Junior Legal Counsel.
n

Skills & Experience
n
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
n
n
Approximately 6–10 years' post-qualification experience gained in private practice or in-house.
n




A Banking & Finance or M&A; / Transactions background would suit the role particularly well, although open to background lawyers with broader corporate or commercial experience are also encouraged to apply.
n
Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with experience preparing and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
n
Well-developed corporate and commercial legal skills.
n
The ability to manage matters independently and provide commercially focused legal advice with minimal supervision.
n
Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering directly with senior business leaders.
n
