Job Description
Join Acland Street Physiotherapy + Melbourne Running Clinic
n
Acland Street Physiotherapy and Melbourne Running Clinic are looking for an experienced physiotherapist to join our growing team as a paid contractor.
n
We are particularly interested in someone with strengths or a developing interest in MSK, sports, running injuries and ideally women's health, including the opportunity to build a distinctive clinical niche within an established local practice.
n
There is existing clinical work available, so you do not need to arrive with your own caseload.
n
At the same time, we are looking for someone who wants more than simply filling appointment slots — someone interested in building a strong professional reputation across Acland Street Physiotherapy and Melbourne Running Clinic.
n
The opportunity
n
Through Acland Street Physiotherapy, you will work with a broad private MSK caseload in the heart of St Kilda. Through Melbourne Running Clinic, there is also the opportunity to develop expertise in running injury, rehabilitation and performance.
n
The role may suit a physiotherapist interested in:
n
n
Women's health and women's musculoskeletal presentations
n
Pelvic health, pregnancy and postnatal rehabilitation, if within your scope and training
n
Running injuries and gait assessment
n
Sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy
n
Strength and conditioning
n
Tendon rehabilitation
n
Return-to-running and return-to-sport rehabilitation
n
Reformer Pilates
n
Developing a recognised clinical niche
n
n
You will have the opportunity to treat an existing patient base while progressively developing the areas of practice that interest you most. For the right clinician, there is a particular opportunity to help us grow a stronger women's health offering alongside our established MSK, sports and running services.
n
Our Clinic
n
Our St Kilda clinic spans two suites and includes:
n
n
Two rehabilitation gyms
n
Running assessment technology
n
Modern strength,
rehabilitation and movement-analysis equipment
n
AI-assisted documentation through CliniScribe
n
n
You will also have access to:
n
n
An established and highly rated local clinic
n
Referral pathways through both Acland Street Physiotherapy and Melbourne Running Clinic
n
The opportunity to build a women's health niche within the broader clinic
n
Local sporting connections, including Old Melburnians Soccer Club
n
Support developing your clinical niche and patient base
n
Flexible working arrangements
n
Strong clinical autonomy
n
Potential future leadership or partnership opportunities
n
n
Our focus is on clinical quality, patient experience, communication and long-term outcomes — not volume-based KPIs.
n
Mentoring and professional development
n
Acland Street Physiotherapy is led by Barry Nguyen, a physiotherapist with more than 20 years of MSK and sports experience, private practice owner, former software engineer and founder of healthcare AI company CliniScribe.
n
Depending on your interests, mentoring can include:
n
n
Clinical reasoning and complex MSK presentations
n
Running injury assessment and rehabilitation
n
Building and positioning a women's health or female athlete service
n
Developing a robust private practice caseload
n
Building and positioning a clinical niche
n
Patient experience and professional reputation
n
Strength and rehabilitation programming
n
Healthcare technology and AI-enabled practice
n
Private practice and business development
n
n
The contractor role
n
This is a paid contractor position with flexibility around days and hours.
n
The arrangement provides:
n
n
Existing clinical work
n
Competitive contractor remuneration
n
Clinical autonomy
n
Administrative and clinic support
n
Access to rehabilitation facilities and technology
n
Opportunity to grow your own following and areas of interest
n
Potential to expand your role as the clinic grows
n
n
Remuneration and structure will be discussed based on experience, availability and the nature of the role.
n
About you
n
You will ideally:
n
n
Hold general AHPRA registration as a physiotherapist
n
Be confident managing an MSK caseload
n
Have Australian private practice experience
n
Demonstrate strong clinical reasoning and communication
n
Have an interest in women's health, running, sport or active rehabilitation
n
Be professional, reliable and patient-centred
n
Have the right to work in Australia
n
n
Experience in women's health, pelvic health,
pregnancy/postnatal
rehabilitation, running injuries, sports physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, Pilates or return-to-sport rehabilitation would be highly regarded. Formal women's or pelvic health training would be particularly attractive, but is not essential if this is an area you are committed to developing.
n
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who genuinely cares about becoming an excellent clinician and providing an outstanding patient experience.
n
Long-term potential
n
For the right practitioner, the role could develop into:
n
n
A strong and loyal private patient caseload
n
A recognised women's health, running or sports physiotherapy niche
n
Leadership within Melbourne Running Clinic
n
Sporting and community partnerships
n
Education and professional development opportunities
n
n
We are not simply looking for the next available physiotherapist.
n
We are looking for someone who wants to build something meaningful, become known for excellent care and grow alongside the clinic.
