The Opportunity
Due to organisational growth, we are on the search for a permanent full-time
Construction Cadet
to support the delivery of our commercial construction and refurbishment projects located in
Brisbane
.
We are searching for an individual who would like to be part of a progressive and stable company, whilst furthering their career by working with a team of highly experienced construction professionals.
About the Role
The Cadet position is aimed at providing current Construction Students or Recent Graduates with 'hands on' exposure to the three core streams of our business. Cadets will work on a rotation where they will spend a total of four months working within each business unit.
This position will contribute to the ongoing success of our operation in the following areas:
Assisting the Estimating Team in the evaluation of bid specifications and drawings and ensuring that all components of the project scope are covered in the tender submission with the overall goal of ensuring competitive tender submissions are submitted.
Foreman
Assisting the Site Manager in ensuring all aspects of the successful day-to-day running of AMA Projects' sites. This includes ensuring contractors are adhering to AMA Projects requirements as well as compliance to quality, safety and environment requirements.
Project Administration
Assisting the Project Managers and Contracts Administrators with end-to-end project coordination from initial tendering and procurement to the close out of defects and issue of manuals and as-built documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
General
Compliance with AMA Projects' policies, procedures and systems
Regular liaison with Construction Managers, Site Managers, Project Managers and Contracts Administrators to support with various tasks as required
Development and issue of Scope of Works documents
Trade procurement
Dilapidation Reports
Development of Site Management Plans and ensuring implementation
Conduct regular inspections of the contractors to ensure compliance with SWMS and AMA Projects' procedures
Document control
Meeting minutes and reports
Preparation of defects lists and quality inspections
Collection of Handover Documentation
Education, Training and Qualifications
Bachelor or Diploma in Construction Management or similar, either a recent Graduate or currently undertaking
Construction Industry White Card
First Aid Certificate
Proficiency with MS Office Suite – Predominantly Word, Excel, and Outlook
MS Project, Jonas Premier and/or Build Pass Experience is desirable but not essential
Professional Attributes

Well organised with strong administrative skills
A genuine passion for the construction industry with a desire to build a career
Strong communication skills with the confidence to contribute to team meetings
Ability to adapt quickly to a new environment
