About the Role:
This is an exciting leadership opportunity to shape the future of animal care, welfare and community education in Townsville. Leading a dedicated multidisciplinary team of veterinary,programs and animal care professionals, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality services through the Animal Care and Adoption Centre, while building strong relationships with the community, industry partners and animal welfare organisations.
Working in a highly visible and rewarding environment, you'll drive initiatives that promote responsible pet ownership, enhance community engagement, and support positive outcomes for animals in care. This role offers the opportunity to lead people, influence strategic programs and partnerships, and make a meaningful impact on animal welfare across the city.
You will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of community programs and key partnerships. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will identify opportunities to improve services, strengthen community connections, and deliver initiatives that improve outcomes for animals and the community.
About you:
You are an experienced leader with animal industry experience, passionate about animal welfare, community engagement and delivering high-quality customer-focused services. You bring strong people leadership skills,



sound judgement and the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Qualifications in Animal Services (or the ability to obtain) and significant experience in the animal industry.
Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing teams, volunteers and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
Strong organisational, project management and problem-solving abilities in a agile operating environment.
Knowledge of relevant animal welfare, veterinary and animal management legislation.
A current C Class Driver Licence and Children Clearance (Blue Card), Q Fever vaccination or the willingness to obtain.
Participate in an after-hours on-call roster and meet vaccination requirements.
