The primary purpose of the Nursery Hand is to support all operational areas of the nursery to ensure the effective production, maintenance, and dispatch of high-quality plants. This role works across all sections of the nursery, including propagation, transplanting, potting and dispatching, contributing to smooth daily operations and meeting production targets. The Nursery Hand also supports stock organisation, labelling, quality control, order picking, packing, and dispatch to ensure plants are presented and delivered in excellent condition. The role requires adherence to workplace health and safety procedures, biosecurity standards, and quality control processes. The Nursery Hand is required to work collaboratively with team members across all sections of the nursery and reports directly to their section supervisors.
Key responsibilities
Propagation of tissue culture, including preparation of propagation media
Transplanting of propagation stock
Assisting with potting machine to pot up plants to relevant pot size for sale
Assisting the dispatch team to prepare plants, label,



barcode and prepare stock for dispatch
Use towing and/or carry-all vehicles and trailers to relocate stock around the nursery
Picking of stock from shade houses as directed and transporting to dispatch sheds
Other duties up to and including your level of competency

Physically fit and resilient, with the proven ability to work productively outdoors across all seasonal weather variations (including summer heat, winter and rain)
Comfortable performing manual tasks in an open-air environment while strictly adhering to sun and weather safety protocols
Experience in the Nursery Sector (desirable)
Current Forklift Licence (desirable)
