About your new role
The Medicare Mental Health service offers COVID-safe face-to-face services, as well as video and phone supported mental health and assessment services. The service will have a multidisciplinary mental health team onsite to provide accessible, free mental health services and support in the community.
As an Allied Health Professional, you will draw on your discipline skills, engage with the consumers, other clinicians, the consumer's treatment team, lived experience peer workers, Neami staff and family/friends/carers to provide high quality needs assessments and interventions aimed at improving mental health outcomes for consumers accessing the service. The Allied Health Professional positions will look to provide short to medium term supports to individuals and have a strong emphasis on preparing the consumer to leave the service and support their access to holistic and integrated care. This work will focus on clinical needs assessment, collaborative care planning and group facilitation where required.

What you will bring to the role
Formal tertiary qualifications in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or related
Current full registration as an Enrolled Nurse/Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner with current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA),
OR
Current full registration as a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse with current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA),
OR
Current full registration as an Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Counselling or Psychotherapy with current level 3 membership with ACA or clinical PACFA registration, where permitted within jurisdictional or program specific requirements.
Ongoing compliance with CPD and professional registration requirements.




Experience in mental health practice.
Demonstrated ability to form and nurture partnerships with government and non-government mental health, emergency, and community service providers.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries, demonstrate empathy and build trust.
Strong capacity to engage effectively when working with discomfort, distress and people experiencing crisis.
Ability to work autonomously, manage competing demands and exercise sound judgement.
Experience in working as a member of a transdisciplinary team with the ability to inspire and facilitate team commitment and cooperation.
Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of a diverse range of people and identify changing needs within a group.
Knowledge of trauma informed care.
Strong computer literacy and written communication skills.
