We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our client within the Manufacturing sector. This contract position will play a critical role in progressing product design, prototype development and engineering documentation to support testing, validation and future production activities.

Key Responsibilities
Review, update and optimise existing mechanical designs and assemblies for a specific product.
Create and modify 3D models, drawings and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
Develop preliminary component designs and prototypes for product trials and validation activities.
Work with plastic component designs, manufacturability considerations and product improvement initiatives.
Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy and version control.
Migrate and manage engineering files within the SolidWorks PDM environment.
Collaborate closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are practical and production-ready.




Utilise 3D printing technologies to support rapid prototyping and design iterations.
Identify design issues and implement engineering solutions within project timeframes.
Ensure documentation accuracy, quality standards and system integrity are maintained throughout the project.
Profile
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical engineering / design experience.
Experience designing products and components using plastics.
SolidWorks capability, including modelling, assemblies and drawing creation.
Previous experience administering or working within SolidWorks PDM environments.
Hands-on experience with prototype development and 3D printing technologies.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
Excellent attention to detail and documentation control skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical, hands‐on approach.
Job Offer
Competitive hourly rate of $66 to $72 AUD.
Temporary role with view to extend.
