They are seeking a practical and motivated Environmental Field Technician / Project Officer to join their team in Broome and support the delivery of environmental and natural resource management projects across the Kimberley and Pilbara.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working outdoors while also developing their experience in project delivery, stakeholder engagement and natural resource management.
The role combines fieldwork, environmental monitoring, data collection, project support, reporting and stakeholder engagement, with regular travel throughout the region and to remote project locations.
You will work as part of a project and program team across a diverse range of landscapes and projects, supporting activities such as biodiversity and threatened species monitoring, invasive species management, fire management, weeds, feral animals, agriculture and broader natural resources management programs.
A significant component of the position will be spent in the field, including travel to remote locations and multi-day field trips.
You will also contribute to the planning, coordination, documentation and reporting required to successfully deliver projects.
Key Responsibilities Undertake environmental field surveys, monitoring and assessments.
Collect accurate environmental, ecological and spatial data using established methodologies.
Support the delivery of biodiversity, threatened species, invasive species, fire management, weed, feral animal, agricultural and broader natural resource management projects.
Assist with project planning, scheduling and delivery against agreed activities and milestones.
Assist with planning, preparing and delivering field activities, including remote and multi-day field trips.
Operate and maintain field equipment, monitoring equipment and vehicles.
Record, manage and quality-check field data, photographs, GPS information and other project evidence.
Assist with mapping, data management, project documentation and preparation of reports.
Work collaboratively with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal organisations, pastoralists and land managers, community groups, government agencies, contractors and other project partners.
Support community engagement, field days, workshops and other project activities.
Assist with the coordination of contractors and field activities.
Maintain accurate project records and contribute to monitoring progress against project requirements and deliverables.
Ensure field and project activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with relevant legislation, organisational policies and project requirements.
Contribute to project reporting, evaluation and continuous improvement.




Undertake other environmental and natural resource management activities as required.
About You We are looking for someone who is practical, adaptable and genuinely enjoys working in the field, while also being interested in developing their project delivery capability.
You will be comfortable working in regional and remote environments and contributing as part of a small regional team.
You will have good attention to detail, be confident collecting and recording field data and be prepared to contribute to the documentation, coordination and reporting that sits behind successful project delivery.
Ideally, you will have: A relevant qualification or demonstrated experience in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Conservation, Agriculture, Land Management or a related field.
Experience undertaking environmental fieldwork, monitoring, surveys or data collection.
Experience supporting projects or programs, including planning, coordination, documentation or reporting.
A sound understanding of environmental, ecological and natural resource management principles.
Strong observational, recording and data management skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
A high level of attention to detail and commitment to accurate and reliable data collection and project records.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team in regional and remote locations.
A practical approach to problem solving and the ability to adapt when field conditions or plans change.
The ability and willingness to work outdoors for extended periods in Kimberley conditions.
A current manual C Class Driver's licence and confidence driving 4WD vehicles in regional and remote areas.
The ability and willingness to undertake regular regional and remote travel, including overnight and multi-day field trips.
Experience with GPS/GIS, ecological survey techniques, environmental monitoring, weed and feral animal management, fire management or threatened species programs will be highly regarded.
Experience working with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal organisations and communities in the Kimberley will also be highly regarded.
What We Offer Competitive salary: $90,000–$100,000 + Super, depending on skills and experience.

Location and Working Conditions This position is based in Broome, Western Australia, with regular travel throughout the Kimberley, Pilbara and to remote project locations.
Fieldwork is an important part of the role and may involve extended periods outdoors in hot and humid conditions, travel on sealed and unsealed roads, remote-area driving, camping or remote accommodation, and physically demanding activities.
The role will require flexibility around field schedules, weather conditions, travel and project requirements.
A practical, safety-conscious and adaptable approach to remote fieldwork is essential.
