They supply quality meat products to their customers and are strengthening their quality management capability as the business grows.
The company is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to lead their quality, food safety and compliance systems across the operation.
About the role Reporting to the General Manager, the Quality Assurance Manager will develop, implement and continuously improve the company's quality assurance and food safety framework.
The role will work closely with production, supply and distribution personnel to ensure products, processes, suppliers and records meet company standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: • Develop, implement, maintain and review the company's quality assurance, food safety and regulatory compliance systems, policies, procedures and records.
• Plan, coordinate and conduct quality-system reviews, internal audits, risk assessments, verification activities and management reviews, and oversee corrective actions arising from audit findings.
• Manage the company's HACCP-based food safety program and ensure compliance with applicable food standards,
meat-processing requirements, customer specifications and contractual obligations.
• Identify relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards and certification requirements, and coordinate external audits, regulatory inspections and certification processes.
• Establish and maintain product and process specifications, inspection and sampling procedures, traceability controls, document-control systems and standard operating procedures.
• Monitor production, processing and storage activities to identify quality risks, investigate non-conformances and customer complaints, determine root causes and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
• Assess and monitor suppliers, raw materials and packaging to ensure goods and services meet approved specifications, quality standards and production requirements.
• Analyse quality data and performance trends, prepare reports on the effectiveness of the quality management system and recommend improvements to systems, processes and workflows.
• Develop and deliver training on quality procedures, hygiene, food safety and compliance requirements, and provide guidance to employees on their quality responsibilities.
• Maintain product-recall and withdrawal readiness by coordinating mock recalls, traceability testing and reviews of recall procedures.
• Liaise with customers to address quality expectations, specifications, complaints and service performance, and maintain effective relationships with laboratories, auditors, regulators, suppliers and other external stakeholders.
• Lead the quality assurance function, establish quality objectives and improvement priorities, allocate responsibilities to relevant employees and report quality and compliance performance to senior management.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role: • A bachelor's degree or higher qualification in quality management, food science, biotechnology, microbiology or another closely related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant professional experience in quality assurance or quality management • Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP principles, food safety programs, quality risk management and controlled documentation.
• Robust analytical, problem-solving, report-writing and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to lead quality activities independently and work effectively with operational teams.
• Sound written and spoken English and proficiency with standard business and quality-record systems.
