The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Intelligence Analyst to provide a critical role at Melbourne Assessment Prison Precinct.
About the Business Unit
The Melbourne Assessment Prison Precinct (MAPP) is a maximum-security correctional facility located on the fringe of the Melbourne CBD.
The MAPP is the State's primary reception prison, receiving prisoners directly from the Courts and Police and provides assessment and orientation services for all male prisoners received into the prison system.
The MAPP also operates the Melbourne County Court, Supreme Court, Supreme Court Appeals facilities, located on the corners of William and Lonsdale Streets in the CBD and St Augustine's secure medical ward, located at St Vincent's Hospital.
These facilities manage both male and female prisoners of all security ratings, operating Monday to Friday.
The location also manages the St Vincent's Hospital holding cells, providing custodial liaison and coordination of all prisoner escorts attending the hospital for medical outpatient appointments from prison locations across the State.
MAPP also looks after the security function at the Adult Parole Board and the Post Sentence Authority located at 50 Franklin Street, West Melbourne.
Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria and its stakeholders.
Presently the CVIS comprises the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU), and Prison Intelligence Unit's (PIU) located at the twelve public and two private prison facilities in Victoria.
About the Role
The position of Corrections Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for collecting, recording, analysing and disseminating information,



with a specific focus on high security prisoners, to identify potential prisoner incidents/unrest, prevent prisoner escapes, and prevent the introduction and usage of contraband within CV facilities.
This position reports to the Supervisor (PIU), and will contribute to both tactical and strategic intelligence functions, and analyse and present intelligence information to management and authorised persons/external agencies as required.
This position is created to support prison management in maintaining the security, valuable order and management of prison facilities.
Some of your duties will include:
* Lead the collation, analysis, and controlled dissemination and reporting of intelligence information, specifically in relation to high security prisoners, to authorised parties, in a timely manner.
* Prepare and present intelligence briefings, and make high quality recommendations, in respect of the analysis of intelligence data, including the identification and evaluation of emerging threats, opportunities, patterns and trends relating to the activities of high security prisoners which affect the security and good order of the prison system.
* Support prison management, staff and external agencies by participating in the development and planning of intelligence-led prison operations.

* Demonstrated experience in delivering both tactical and strategic intelligence functions in a correctional or law enforcement setting.




* Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary principles and practises that apply to intelligence functions within the criminal justice system and across intelligence agencies.
* Experience in, or capacity to quickly learn and use, Corrections Victoria and Department of Justice and Community Safety systems and applications.
Qualifications/requirements
* Experience with the Centurion Intelligence system (desirable).
