About the prospect
We are seeking a Manager Customer Material Support to act as the strategic relationship builder and operational driver of our Civil Helicopter Supply Chain organisation.
Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain, this role is designed for a true "people-person" who excels at building, influencing, and maintaining critical stakeholder relationships across the globe.
About the role
You will be the vital bridge connecting our operations in Australia and New Zealand with our global counterparts across the APAC region and Europe.
By establishing trust and strong rapport with both internal and external stakeholders overseas, you will ensure our AU and NZ customers receive world-class service delivery.
Locally, you will lead, inspire, and empower a high-performing team distributed across Australia and New Zealand, fostering a unified culture focused on service excellence and material availability.
This position requires flexibility to engage with customers and team members across APAC and European time zones outside standard local hours.
Ideal candidates will be comfortable managing cross-regional communication and international stakeholder needs as part of their routine operations.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
* Cultivate, strengthen, and maintain strong internal and external relationships across APAC and European networks to champion the needs of the AU and NZ markets and secure top-tier service delivery.
* Provide engaging, supportive, and visible leadership to a remote/distributed team spread across Australia and New Zealand, driving cohesive teamwork, high performance, and staff development.
* Act as the primary point of contact for complex material inquiries and critical Aircraft-on-Ground (AOG) events.
Nurture client relationships and leverage feedback to exceed regional Customer Experience benchmarks.
* Collaborate closely with internal Warehouse & Logistics, Procurement, and Program teams—both locally and internationally—to align supply with demand and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
* Set department objectives aligned with Top Company Objectives (TCOs).
Direct operations covering Spare Parts, Repairable Items, Warranties, xBH, and Support & Test Equipment.
* Enforce strict compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), aviation regulations, and the Airbus Code of Conduct.
Key deliverables (Outputs)
* Strong, collaborative partnerships across European and APAC stakeholder networks that yield direct service benefits for AU/NZ.
* High engagement and performance across a geographically dispersed team in Australia and New Zealand.
* Achievement of customer satisfaction benchmarks via Customer Experience Feedback Surveys.
* High-priority performance metrics including AOG Service Rate and On-Time Request (OTR) for Spares & Repairs.
Key qualifications & experience
To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to have exceptional relationship-building skills.
You will need to be someone who is able to lead a team to meet tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment.
The skills and experience best suited to this role are:
* Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills ("people-person") with a proven track record of building and maintaining complex stakeholder relationships globally (specifically with European and APAC entities) and locally.
* 5 - 8 years of experience leading, coaching,
and managing remote or geographically distributed teams across Australia and New Zealand.
* 8+ years of experience in Customer Material Support & Service operations (aviation or Defence sectors preferred).
* Bachelor's degree or Tertiary Qualification in Business, Leadership, Supply Chain, or equivalent industry experience.
* Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Baseline Security Clearance.
Desirable Criteria:
* Broad knowledge of aviation regulatory frameworks (CASA, EASA, NZCAA, FAA) and export/import controls.
* Familiarity with ERP, inventory, and maintenance management systems.
