An iconic Australian organisation is seeking an experienced
Confluent Kafka Engineer
to join its technology team on an initial 6-month contract.
You'll play a key role in building, operating and evolving an enterprise
event streaming platform
, delivering secure, scalable and reliable real-time data solutions across a complex technology environment.
What you'll be doing
Design, build and enhance enterprise event streaming capabilities using
Confluent Cloud and Apache Kafka
.
Develop and support
Kafka Connect
, event-driven integrations and reusable streaming patterns.
Establish engineering standards, governance controls and platform best practices.
Partner with architecture, security and delivery teams to implement event-driven solutions.
Build automation and self-service capabilities to improve platform reliability and developer experience.
Apply
Platform Engineering, DevOps and SRE practices
across the environment.
Monitor and optimise platform performance, availability and capacity.
Support business-critical production environments, including incident and problem management.




Provide technical guidance to engineering and delivery teams.
What we're looking for
Strong commercial experience with
Confluent Cloud and/or Confluent Platform
.
Deep knowledge of
Apache Kafka, Kafka Connect and event-driven architecture
.
Experience designing secure, scalable and highly available streaming platforms.
Strong cloud experience, ideally
GCP
.
Experience with
Kubernetes, Docker and Terraform
or similar IaC tooling.
CI/CD experience using
GitLab CI
or equivalent.
Strong understanding of
Platform Engineering, automation and SRE practices
.
Experience supporting business-critical production platforms.
Exposure to
Apache Flink, Confluent Cloud Flink or Kafka Streams
would be highly regarded.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
