About the opportunity
The Genetics Laboratory at Randwick, NSW Health Pathology, is one of Australia's leading centres for genomic diagnostics, delivering a comprehensive range of genetic testing services within a consultative pathology framework. The laboratory provides advanced diagnostic and reproductive genetic testing including cytogenetics, microarray analysis, and genomic testing including panels, exome and whole genome sequencing to support the diagnosis and management of rare and inherited disorders.

We are seeking two permanent full time experienced and highly motivated Senior Scientific Officer's to join our genomic diagnostics reporting team. In this role, you will be responsible for the interpretation and diagnostic reporting of a broad range of genomic and/or cytogenetic tests, ensuring the delivery of accurate, clinically relevant, and timely results. You will play a key role in monitoring and maintaining testing turnaround times, developing and reviewing reporting policies and procedures, and implementing updates to report templates to support best practice and service consistency.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong expertise in laboratory diagnostics, excellent analytical and communication skills, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement within a NATA-accredited environment. Applicants must have recent relevant experience in data interpretation and diagnostic reporting.

Responsible for delivering a range of operational laboratory activities including the coordination and provisions of scientific and technical training and the ongoing review,



development and quality management of laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures, quality standards and continual process improvement.

Interested in joining Australia's largest public pathology service? Apply now by addressing the following questions * Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution

- Demonstrated recent experience in genomic data interpretation and diagnostic reporting, including microarray and/or genomic sequencing results
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with negotiation skills, report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
- Proven leadership and management skills and experience including operational management, budget management, staff management and resource management




- Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
- Extensive experience working in the laboratory including experience in staff training and competency assessment

Demonstrated understanding and sound knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems
