Gamuda Engineering is a global engineering and construction leader specialising in major Transport, Civil, and Energy Infrastructure projects. Following the award of the Parramatta Integrated Station Development (ISD), we are mobilising a high-performing project team while further establishing Gamuda as an employer of choice.

About the Role
We are seeking a commercial, pragmatic Project Lawyer to join our team on the Parramatta ISD project. Based on-site in Parramatta, you will provide real-time legal and commercial counsel to the Project Director and site delivery teams. This operational role focuses on live contractual risk management, high-value subcontracts, variation claims, SOPA compliance, and client interfaces under the Sydney Metro head contract.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver real-time counsel on contract interpretation, risk allocation, and statutory compliance under the head contract.
- Draft, review, and negotiate subcontracts, consultancy agreements, and major supply contracts aligned with head contract terms.
- Advise on variation claims, EOTs,



head contract notices, and Security of Payment Act (SOPA) payment claims.
- Proactively manage operational risks and resolve subcontractor and supplier issues early to avoid formal disputes.
- Support commercial teams in managing contract administration interfaces with Sydney Metro, Transport for NSW, and utility partners.
- Maintain site compliance with project governance protocols, statutory regulations, and corporate risk frameworks.

Skills and Experience

- Degree in Law (LL.B or JD) with a current NSW Practising Certificate.
- Minimum 4-6 years PQE in construction, engineering, or infrastructure law (private practice or in-house contractor).
- Experience on major civil, rail, tunnelling, or station projects under D&C; or Alliance models (Sydney Metro or TfNSW exposure highly regarded).
- Robust working knowledge of Australian construction law, standard form contracts, and SOPA regimes.
- Practical, solution-focused advice with the confidence to influence site engineers, commercial managers, and external stakeholders.
