The role

The Coordinator Water & Waste Programs provides supports the Manager Water & Waste in planning and implementing operational and capital programs in the water, wastewater and resource recovery group.

This role provides a high level of coordination, technical advice, oversight and guidance to ensure water, wastewater and resource recovery assets are adequately maintained, renewed and upgraded, with an emphasis on increasing efficiency, continuous improvement and achieving Council objectives.

What we are looking for

This role requires demonstrated experience in the management of water and waste programs, or other related projects.



You will be able to identify and analyse complex problems and apply critical thinking to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. You will have:

- Tertiary qualifications in a related field and a further five years’ relevant experience
- A current Queensland C Class Driver Licence
- Experience in developing and implementing operational and capital programs relevant to water, wastewater and resource recovery
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the legislation, standards and operations relevant to local government water and waste activities
- Prior experience in procurement and contract management processes for water and waste services
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with all stakeholders, including industry clients, the public and Council staff
- Proficiency in relevant IT systems and software, including GIS and spatial analysis tools, Windows based systems and project management software

You will be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or have unrestricted work rights in Australia. You must be able to provide evidence that you can legally work in Australia upon request. Mareeba Shire Council does not offer employer visa sponsorship.
