About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project & Assets Engineer to join a progressive Local Government team in Adelaide's metropolitan area. In this role, you will autonomously manage and deliver Council's annual capital works programs for civil infrastructure assets, with a strong focus on stormwater management, drainage systems, and local works.

You will combine technical engineering expertise with practical asset management, leading complex problem-solving on the ground, managing contractors, and providing expert technical advice to internal teams, developers, and the community.

Key Responsibilities

- Project & Capital Works Delivery: Oversee reactive and strategic capital works projects for civil and stormwater infrastructure, managing timelines, budgets, and delivery frameworks.

- Asset Management: Manage and update Asset Management Plans (specifically stormwater), developing forward-looking maintenance and renewal programs.

- Technical & Design Review: Review civil engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and developer submissions to ensure compliance with legislative standards and Council policy.

- Contractor & Stakeholder Management:



Undertake end-to-end contract management, supervising site contractors, and resolving operational issues with local residents, utility providers, and statutory authorities.

- Environmental & Water Management: Investigate waterway issues, apply hydraulic modeling insights, and drive best-practice water quality management.

About You

- Qualifications: Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or equivalent), a current Class C Driver's Licence, and a Work Zone Traffic Management (WZTM) ticket (or capacity to obtain).

- Experience: Demonstrated experience within civil engineering, municipal asset management, stormwater/drainage design, and local government frameworks.

- Technical Capabilities: Solid understanding of hydraulic modeling/mapping, stormwater legislation (including EPA standards), and exposure to corporate asset systems (e.g., TechnologyOne or similar).

- Communication & Style: Strong report-writing skills, a practical problem-solving mindset, and the ability to build positive relationships with community members and project teams.
