Assistant Accountant | Join Stoddart Group

Stoddart Group is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team and support the financial operations of our growing, multi-entity business.

This is a great opportunity for someone with 2–3 years’ accounting experience, or currently working towards an accounting or finance qualification, who is ready to broaden their skills and build their career!

About the Role

Working closely with the Financial Controller and broader Finance team, you’ll help prepare, process and report accurate financial information across Stoddart Group.

Your day-to-day will include month-end accounting, reconciliations, journals, reporting and general finance support, giving you broad exposure across accounting activities.

You'll be responsible for:

- Supporting month-end accounting and reporting across multiple entities

- Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and expense allocations

- Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations

- Assisting with monthly financial reports, supporting schedules and fixed asset records

- Investigating and resolving routine accounting discrepancies

- Supporting BAS preparation, budgeting, forecasting, year-end accounting and audit requirements

- Providing support to Payroll, Accounts Payable and other transactional finance activities when required

About You





We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organised and genuinely interested in developing their accounting career.

You’ll ideally have:

- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or be currently working towards one

- Curious and open to new ways of working, including the use of AI and emerging technologies.

- Around 2–3 years' experience in an accounting or finance role

- Experience with reconciliations, journals and/or month-end accounting

- A sound understanding of accounting principles and intermediate Excel skills

- Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and good organisation

- The confidence to ask questions, learn and take ownership of your work

- A collaborative and positive approach to working within a team

Experience in a multi-entity or complex business environment will be highly regarded, but we're also interested in someone who is keen to learn and grow!
