Join Logan City Council and play a key role in shaping the conversations that connect our community, elected members, and stakeholders. Based within our Corporate Communications Branch, you will help deliver strategic media and communication initiatives that support one of Queensland's fastest-growing cities.

As a Media and Communications Advisor, you will develop and deliver proactive and reactive media and communication strategies that enhance the reputation of Logan City Council and promote the City of Logan. Working closely with elected members, senior leaders, and key stakeholders, you will provide trusted advice, create engaging content, and identify opportunities to highlight Council's achievements and priorities.

Position responsibilities include:

- Develop and implement media and communication strategies aligned with Council objectives.
- Identify and pitch media opportunities to local, state, and national media outlets.
- Prepare high-quality media releases, speeches, feature articles, and digital content.
- Provide strategic communication and media advice to elected members, executives, managers, and staff.
- Monitor media coverage and emerging issues, providing timely advice on reputation and risk management.
- Consult with journalists and media representatives, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Support communication campaigns, media training activities, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Produce and coordinate content for internal and external publications, social media, and digital channels.
- Support the Logan community in times of disasters and emergencies.

Key indicators for success:

- A degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a media advisory, communications, public relations, government, or corporate communications role.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.




- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capabilities.
- Experience working across traditional media, social media, and digital communication platforms.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a politically aware environment.

Requirements:
