The Team

The Sensor Operations and Data Assurance (SODA) team in the Australian Cyber Security centre (ACSC) works with a diverse range of government and industry partners to support the delivery, assurance and ongoing improvement of specialist cyber threat visibility capability. The team acts as a critical interface between technical cyber practitioners, operational stakeholders and strategic decision-makers, ensuring that mission requirements are understood, prioritised and translated into cyber threat visibility capability. SODA maintains strong relationships across government and industry, coordinates engagement activities, delivers capability, and provides informed advice on cyber security matters, risks and opportunities.

The Role

As a Cyber Engagement Specialist, you will serve as a trusted point of contact between SODA and a range of customers who undertake cybersecurity work. You will build and maintain productive relationships, understand customer requirements, coordinate outcomes across multiple stakeholders, and provide informed advice on cyber capability and operational matters. The position requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, technologies and operating environments, enabling you to engage confidently with ICT specialists and translate complex information for a variety of audiences. Depending on the classification level, responsibilities may range from managing customer interactions and operational coordination through to leading strategic engagement activities, influencing priorities, and providing senior advice across government and industry.

Key Duties and Deliverables

ASD5

- Build and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders, supporting ongoing engagement activities and operational outcomes.
- Coordinate customer requests, inquiries and actions, ensuring timely responses and effective communication.
- Develop stakeholder products including briefs, reports,



presentations and engagement material.
- Maintain accurate records of stakeholder interactions, actions and outcomes.
- Develop foundational knowledge of cybersecurity capabilities, terminology and operating environments relevant to the team's work.

ASD6

- Manage complex stakeholder relationships across government and industry, acting as a trusted engagement lead for multiple customers.
- Analyse customer requirements and coordinate responses across technical and operational teams.
- Provide informed advice on cybersecurity capability, operational processes and stakeholder impacts.
- Lead engagement planning, reporting and governance activities, identifying risks and opportunities and driving outcomes.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the team.

and building trusted relationships across a diverse stakeholder landscape. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and often complex environment.

Candidates should possess relevant experience in stakeholder engagement, customer relationship management, project coordination, cyber security, information technology, intelligence, operational support, or a related field. Demonstrated experience working with technical specialists, technical projects, or cybersecurity capability delivery will be highly regarded.

Key Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders, building trusted relationships and delivering customer-focused outcomes.
- Strong understanding of information technology and cyber security concepts, with the ability to confidently engage with technical specialists and customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefs, reports, presentations and advice for varied audiences.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate complex activities and exercise sound judgement in a fast-paced environment.

Additional expectations by level

ASD5

- Demonstrable experience in stakeholder engagement, project support, ICT, cyber security or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.

ASD6

- Demonstrable experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and coordinating outcomes across multiple groups.
- Ability to provide well-reasoned advice and mentor less experienced staff.
