We’re looking for experienced Senior Cloud Architects / Cloud Engineers to support a range of ICT projects within a large Australian Government environment.

This is a senior-level opportunity suited to someone who can operate across cloud architecture, engineering, solution design and technical delivery, while working closely with both technical and business stakeholders.

With an initial 12-month contract and two further 12-month extension options, this is a strong long-term opportunity for experienced Azure professionals.

About the Role

You’ll contribute to the design, implementation and ongoing evolution of enterprise cloud solutions, with a solid focus on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.

You’ll work across enterprise and application-level architecture, providing practical technical guidance to delivery teams and helping ensure cloud solutions are secure, scalable, user-focused and aligned with relevant government standards.

This role will suit someone who is comfortable moving between architecture and hands-on technical delivery, and who can influence technical decisions across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop enterprise-level cloud platform architectures across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.

- Develop high-level solution architectures for cloud-based systems.

- Produce detailed architecture guidance for cloud engineering and delivery teams.

- Analyse stakeholder and user requirements and assess their technical impact.

- Provide technical guidance throughout the design and build of cloud-based solutions.

- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles and relevant government standards.

- Work closely with business owners, Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, developers,



enterprise architects and testers.

- Collaborate with service experience teams to ensure user experience considerations are reflected in architectural decisions.

- Support platform automation, including testing, CI/CD and deployment automation.

- Contribute to cloud integration with third-party platforms and systems.

- Promote architectural principles such as reuse before build/buy and configuration over customisation.

- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance across project and operational activities.

- Adapt delivery approaches as requirements, priorities and technical challenges evolve.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Cloud Architect or Cloud Engineer with 5+ years' experience implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies, ideally with strong experience across enterprise Azure environments.

You’ll have the technical depth to design and guide cloud solutions, combined with the communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You’ll also be comfortable working within Agile, multidisciplinary teams and contributing to secure, reliable and user-focused technology outcomes.

Technical Skills & Experience

Essential:

- 5+ years' experience implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies.

- Strong Microsoft Azure experience, including:

- Azure App Services

- Azure Functions

- Azure Logic Apps

- Azure SQL

- Azure Service Bus

- Azure API Management

- Azure DevOps

- Infrastructure as Code

- CI/CD





- Microsoft Entra ID

- Azure Key Vault

- Azure Monitor

- Application Insights

- Azure Virtual Networks

- Private Endpoints

- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

- Experience integrating cloud-based systems with third-party platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM.

- Experience developing enterprise and application-level cloud architectures.

- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking and identity.

- Experience providing technical guidance and impact analysis for project delivery.

- Experience working with Agile multidisciplinary teams.

- Ability to work effectively with geographically dispersed teams.

- Strong stakeholder communication, collaboration and mentoring skills.

Desirable:

- Technical leadership across both project and operational environments.

- Experience with application/integration or infrastructure platform architecture.

- 3+ years' experience designing and documenting architectures for large, complex enterprise systems.

- Experience with AWS and/or GCP.

- Experience working with government or large enterprise environments.
