St Helena’s Catholic Primary School is a co-educational primary school catering for over 490 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. This is a wonderful opportunity for a committed and passionate Social Worker to positively influence the lives of students and contribute to our Catholic school community at St Helena's Catholic Primary School.

The successful applicant will be required to support students with their individual social and emotional needs and provide strategies to assist teachers in building positive relationships and resilience in students. The School Social Worker will be required to liaise with the Principal, Leadership Team and Class Teachers to establish strategies and action plans which will promote student well-being and assist in maintaining the welfare of students. The position requires the applicant to work within the values and ethics of Catholic Education Western Australia and having some experience working in a school setting is preferable.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

- Developing positive, trusting and professional relationships with students, staff and their families.

- Advocating for the well-being of students, priortising a culture of child safety with the school and consistently applying the principles and practices of the CEWA Childsafe Framework.

- Delivering a best practice approach to intervention, including individual and collective counselling methodologies.





- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed education and have experience in implementing programs that support students' social and emotional wellbeing.

- Working in collaboration with key stakeholders, networking and enhancing relations with external organisations to support the delivery of programs and assisting in referrals to community agencies.

- Conducting whole class and group workshops where necessary and demonstrating strategies which staff can employ in their classrooms.

- Creating and sourcing newsletter articles to support parents/caregivers and the school community.

Qualifications Required:

- Be eligible for the Australian Association of Social Workers membership.

- Qualifications such as a Bachelor of Social Work

- Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School (or prepared to work towards)
