PCYC Queensland is seeking an experienced Chairperson and an experienced Non-Executive Director to join its Board. These appointments present an opportunity to contribute to the governance, strategy and future direction of an iconic Queensland organisation with young people at the heart of all that it does. Both roles are voluntary positions, and Luminary is inviting expressions of interest.

About PCYC Queensland

Police-Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC) Queensland is an award-winning charity providing youth and community programs, services and facilities. PCYC Queensland builds safer, healthier communities through youth development, with its work centred on youth development, crime prevention and community engagement.

Operating across diverse Queensland communities, PCYC Queensland delivers programs and services for young people while also providing sport, recreation, Gym+Fitness and outside school hours care services. Its longstanding partnership with the Queensland Police Service is central to its identity, reach and community impact.

About the PCYC Queensland Board

PCYC Queensland is the trading name of the Queensland Police-Citizens Youth Welfare Association (QPCYWA), a constitutional member-based association, company limited by guarantee and registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. The Board oversees the governance of PCYC Queensland and supports the organisation to deliver its purpose, strategy and services across the state.

The Opportunities

Chairperson: The Chairperson will provide leadership to the Board, foster effective governance and constructive decision-making, and work closely with fellow Directors, the Chief Executive Officer and key stakeholders. The Chair will bring the judgement, presence and independence required to lead a diverse Board and support PCYC Queensland through its next phase.

Non-Executive Director:



The Non-Executive Director will complement the skills and experience of the existing Board, contributing independent thinking, sound judgement and contemporary governance capability to PCYC Queensland's strategic direction and oversight.

Essential Attributes

- A strong commitment to PCYC Queensland's purpose and to improving outcomes for young people and communities;
- Demonstrated governance experience, ideally as a Chair, Non-Executive Director or senior executive working closely with Boards;
- Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining independent thought and a preparedness to constructively challenge;
- High levels of integrity, ethical judgement and personal credibility;
- A strategic mindset with strong business acumen, commercial astuteness and financial literacy;
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capability, with the ability to operate effectively across community, government, corporate and not-for-profit environments;
- Sound understanding of directors' duties, risk, governance and organisational stewardship;
- An appreciation of the unique partnership between PCYC Queensland and the Queensland Police Service; and
- Queensland-based or with a strong connection to Queensland.

For the Chairperson, we are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

- Proven Board leadership and the capacity to build an effective, collegiate and high-performing Board;
- The confidence and judgement to lead Board deliberations, support constructive challenge and build consensus;




- A strong working relationship with a Chief Executive Officer while maintaining transparent governance boundaries; and
- The stature and stakeholder capability to represent PCYC Queensland with credibility.

For the Non-Executive Director, the Board is seeking complementary experience that will strengthen its collective capability. Relevant backgrounds may include:

- Commercial, finance, strategy or organisational transformation;
- Youth, community or human services;
- Government, public policy or stakeholder engagement;
- Property, infrastructure, sport, recreation or multi-site operations; and/or
- Risk, governance, legal, people and culture, technology or digital transformation.
- Formal governance qualifications such as GAICD, GIA or equivalent will be well regarded.
