Edith Cowan University

Are you ready to belong to a dynamic community where courage, creativity and optimism are essential elements of our DNA? At ECU we’re inspired by the incredible achievements of Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament and a lifelong champion of education. Empowered by her legacy, we’re united in our vision to lead the sector in educational experience and expand our impact through world-class research.

Embrace an opportunity to become part of something extraordinary.

Growth, Engagement and Marketing is the heart of ECU’s growth, committed to showcasing the very best of ECU – who we are, what we offer, and the impact we make. We bring ECU’s story to life so the University is seen, chosen and valued. This commitment underpins everything we do across engagement, events, communications, brand, marketing and customer experience, shaping how ECU is perceived and experienced by its many audiences.

About the Opportunity

The Manager, Student Digital Engagement will shape how ECU connects with students throughout their digital journey – from exploring their study options, through transition into university and their studies, to maintaining an ongoing connection with ECU.

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Communications & Engagement, you will develop and lead student engagement strategies across ECU’s owned digital channels, including the University’s organic student social media presence. The focus is on creating relevant, timely and engaging digital experiences that strengthen connection and belonging while supporting student conversion, transition and retention.

A key focus will be ensuring digital engagement activity is purposeful, prioritised and measurable. You will work across the University to identify the initiatives that will create the greatest value for students, bring greater coordination to student-facing communications and use engagement data and student insights to demonstrate impact and continually improve outcomes.

Leading a team of two Social Media Analysts, you will work closely with Marketing Automation, Creative Studio, Web Experience, Digital Performance & Optimisation and stakeholders across ECU to deliver connected digital engagement initiatives that respond to student needs and organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement student digital engagement strategies across the student lifecycle to strengthen connection, conversion and retention.
- Develop prospective student content and engagement strategies that support awareness, consideration and application.
- Lead ECU’s organic student social media capability, ensuring content is relevant,

engaging and aligned with student needs and University priorities.
- Coordinate student-facing digital engagement campaigns across owned channels in partnership with Marketing Automation, Creative Studio and key stakeholders.
- Work with stakeholders to identify, assess and prioritise digital engagement opportunities based on student needs, organisational objectives and potential impact.
- Build robust partnerships across Schools, University Centres and Growth, Engagement and Marketing to improve the coordination and effectiveness of student communications.
- Monitor engagement performance and student feedback, using data and insights to demonstrate value, inform priorities and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure engagement activity aligns with ECU’s communications governance, lifecycle strategies and brand standards.
- Lead, coach and develop the Student Digital Engagement team, building capability and supporting high-quality delivery.

About You

You’re an experienced digital engagement, social media or communications leader who understands how to build meaningful connections with audiences across digital channels.

You bring a strong understanding of social and digital engagement, but importantly, you can think beyond individual channels or campaigns. You understand how different interactions contribute to the broader customer journey and can make informed decisions about where to focus effort for the greatest impact.

You’re also confident working across a complex stakeholder environment. You can bring people together around priorities, influence decisions and clearly articulate the role and value of digital engagement.

You’ll bring:

- Demonstrated experience leading digital engagement, communications, social media or customer experience initiatives.
- Experience developing engagement strategies across digital channels, including social media and web.
- A strong understanding of audience engagement and how digital content can support different stages of the customer or student journey.
- Experience leading organic social media strategy and using social channels to build meaningful audience engagement.
- The ability to use analytics, engagement measures and customer insights to understand performance, demonstrate impact and improve outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills,

with the ability to coordinate competing requirements and establish clear priorities.
- Experience delivering integrated digital communications and engagement initiatives across multiple teams or business areas.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop and build capability within a team.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based decision making.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
