Edith Cowan University

Are you ready to belong to a dynamic community where courage, creativity and optimism are essential elements of our DNA? At ECU we’re inspired by the incredible achievements of Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament and a lifelong champion of education. Empowered by her legacy, we’re united in our vision to lead the sector in educational experience and expand our impact through world-class research.

Embrace an opportunity to become part of something extraordinary.

Growth, Engagement and Marketing is the heart of ECU’s growth, committed to showcasing the very best of ECU – who we are, what we offer, and the impact we make. We bring ECU’s story to life so the University is seen, chosen and valued. This commitment underpins everything we do across engagement, events, communications, brand, marketing and customer experience, shaping how ECU is perceived and experienced by its many audiences.

About the Opportunity

The Manager, Digital Performance & Optimisation will shape how ECU measures, understands and improves the performance of its digital ecosystem. With reporting, analytics and actionable insight at its core, this role will establish the capability and frameworks needed to support stronger, evidence-based decision making across digital activity.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital & Customer Experience, you will lead a multidisciplinary team spanning UX, digital experience, data insights and digital marketing analytics. You will bring together data, customer insight, user research and experimentation to provide a clearer picture of how ECU’s digital channels and initiatives are performing and where opportunities exist to improve conversion, engagement and the student experience.

A significant focus of the role will be strengthening ECU’s reporting and analytics capability. You will establish consistent approaches to performance measurement and reporting, build meaningful dashboards and insights, and ensure data is translated into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders. You’ll be equally comfortable providing strategic direction and getting close to the tools and data when required.

This is an opportunity to build a more consistent, evidence-led approach to digital performance and optimisation, helping teams understand what is working, where improvements can be made and how digital activity contributes to broader organisational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead ECU’s digital performance and optimisation capability across websites, digital platforms and owned channels.
- Build and strengthen reporting and analytics capability, establishing consistent approaches to measuring,

analysing and communicating digital performance.
- Develop meaningful reporting, dashboards and insights that enable stakeholders to understand performance and make informed decisions.
- Establish continuous optimisation practices using analytics, customer research, journey mapping and experimentation.
- Lead UX research activities, including usability testing, behavioural analysis and customer journey evaluation.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to improve digital conversion, engagement and the student experience.
- Develop experimentation frameworks and coordinate testing initiatives to identify and validate opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with stakeholders across ECU to ensure digital initiatives are informed by customer needs, data and measurable outcomes.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, building capability and encouraging greater adoption of data-informed decision making and continuous improvement.

About You

You’re an experienced digital performance, analytics or optimisation leader who knows how to turn complex data into meaningful insights that people can understand and act on.

You combine strong analytical capability with leadership and influence. You’re comfortable working at a strategic level, but you also understand the detail and can work directly with reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI.

You know how to identify the story behind the numbers, communicate what it means for the organisation and engage stakeholders in using those insights to improve decisions and outcomes.

You’ll bring:

- Demonstrated experience leading digital performance, analytics, optimisation or customer experience functions.
- Strong reporting and analytics capability, including experience developing meaningful dashboards, reporting frameworks and performance measures.
- Hands-on capability with data analysis and visualisation tools such as Power BI or similar.
- Proven ability to interpret complex data and translate it into explicit, actionable insights for a range of stakeholders.
- Experience applying UX research, behavioural analysis and customer journey mapping techniques.
- Experience establishing optimisation programs, testing approaches or experimentation frameworks.

- Demonstrated success using evidence and insights to improve digital performance, conversion, engagement or customer experience.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the confidence to present insights, challenge thinking and build support for evidence-led decision making.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to develop multidisciplinary teams and build capability.
- A relevant tertiary qualification and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
