About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Male Disability Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis . This position is based in Berkeley Vale NSW 2261 . As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing direct support and assistance to our 24 year old Son who has an Intellectual Disability, Autism, high anxiety and is non-verbal, helping him to live a fulfilling and independent life.

Key responsibilities

Providing direct personal care and support, including assistance with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming

Providing companionship, social support and engaging in meaningful activities such as swimming

Supporting our Son to attend appointments, community activities and social outings

Maintaining a secure and clean living environment

Communicating effectively with his family, allied health team and other team members regarding support needs and any concerns and be fluent in English

Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of support provided and client progress

Respecting and upholding client privacy, dignity and individual preferences at all times

Working collaboratively with other support workers and service coordinators to ensure consistent and quality care

Adhering to all duty of care, safeguarding and health and safety requirements





What we're looking for

Current or willingness to obtain a valid Working with Children Check (or equivalent screening clearance)

Current or willingness to obtain a Disability Worker Exclusion List (DWEL) clearance

Certificate III in Disability Support or equivalent qualification, or demonstrated experience in disability support work although not essential as training will be provided

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and team members

Patience, empathy and a genuine commitment to supporting people with disabilities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent reliability and punctuality, particularly important as the team is small and very committed

Flexibility to work other shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required as our Son enjoys outings to Sydney and around the Central Coast for entertainment events

Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain

A current driving licence but you will be using our Son's car during your shift

Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect client privacy
