Position details

St Lawrence Primary School is a single-stream, co-educational Catholic primary school in Perth's northern suburbs, serving 257 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. Established in 1960 by the Sisters of Mercy, the school proudly upholds the Mercy charisms and traditions that continue to shape our community today.

Staff use data-informed practices to deliver high-quality teaching and learning that meets the diverse needs of students.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Music or Dance Teacher to join our dedicated team. The successful applicant will teach the Performing Arts curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 6, lead the school choir and hymn singing, coordinate participation in the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival, and oversee the planning and delivery of the school Christmas Concert. This is an ongoing 0.4 FTE position commencing in 2027.

Applicants should outline their qualifications and experience in Music and/or Dance.



The Performing Arts focus for 2027 will be determined by the successful applicant's skills and expertise.

Selection Criteria

We are seeking a suitably experienced, qualified, professional, committed, positive, "Christ centred, child focused" educator who has the necessary knowledge, skills, ability and desire, along with;

- Qualifications and/or experience in teaching the Performing Arts area/s of Dance and/or Music
- Have a sound understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and current educational theories/practices in the area/s of Dance and/or Music
- Demonstrate the ability to use assessment effectively and differentiate the teaching and learning program to cater for a variety of student needs
- Be an enthusiastic and highly capable teacher able to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team
- Be an organised staff member who shows initiative, flexibility and displays a positive outlook
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate the capacity and enthusiasm to build community in collaboration with staff, parents and students.
- Be a reflective practitioner, open to feedback and professional growth
- Experience in leading school choir and/or liturgical singing would be advantageous.

Qualifications Required

- A relevant four year tertiary qualification
- Hold or willing to attain relevant Accreditations required to teach in a Catholic school
