Do you have an interest in welding, fabrication and maintaining the equipment and assets that keep our city running?

As an Apprentice Fabricator, you will support the Workshop and Fleet Team while developing skills in fabrication, welding, maintenance and repair activities that support Council's operations and services.

Based at our workshop at Oak Flats Services Depot, you will work alongside experienced tradespeople and undertake workshop-based fabrication, maintenance, repair and modification tasks while gaining hands-on experience in welding, cutting, shaping, assembling and repairing metal components. You will contribute to the upkeep and operation of Council's fleet, plant and equipment while learning valuable trade skills in a practical workshop environment.

You will complete a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade at North Wollongong TAFE while gaining on-the-job experience with Council. This opportunity is open to school leavers, mature-age applicants and those who have already commenced a Certificate III in Engineering.

This is more than a trade... Our apprenticeships combine practical on-the-job experience with structured off-the-job training. Upon successful completion, you will hold a nationally recognised qualification, have four years of practical industry experience and may have opportunities to gain additional licences and competencies such as a forklift licence, loader competency and more.

Council's Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to build Council's future workforce by creating employment opportunities, developing specialised skills and supporting future talent. As part of the program, you'll receive ongoing training,



guidance and support from workplace mentors while completing a nationally recognised qualification and gaining valuable industry experience.

We offer:

- Temporary Full time up to 4 years (or for the duration of the apprenticeship)
- 38 hours per week with access to a 9 Day-fortnight
- Salary range from $625.80 per week (for a 16 year old) up to $985.60 per week (for someone aged 21 and over)

- Compulsory course costs are paid by Council
