We are seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our single doctor cardiology practice on a casual basis at our Westmead, NSW location. This is a crucial front-line position that sets the tone for patient interactions. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, handling enquiries, and maintaining accurate records. This role is essential to delivering excellent patient care and supporting our clinical team in providing exceptional healthcare services.

Key responsibilities

- Greet patients in a professional and welcoming manner upon arrival at the practice
- Manage the reception desk and telephone enquiries with efficiency and courtesy
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using Gentu practice management software
- Collect and update patient demographic and medical history information
- Process patient payments and handle billing enquiries
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with privacy legislation
- Prepare patient files and medical records for appointments
- Liaise between patients, clinical staff and other healthcare providers
- Manage administrative tasks including data entry, filing and correspondence
- Assist with general reception duties as required to support the practice
- Maintain general office and waiting room tidiness

What we’re looking for

- Demonstrated experience working as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role
- Proficiency with practice management software and electronic health record systems




- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach
- Attention to detail and accuracy when handling patient records and sensitive information
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Professional appearance and manner with a friendly, approachable demeanour
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to speak a second language is advantageous
