Role Description
The Project Engineer provides project delivery and technical coordination support across multidisciplinary engineering projects. This role requires strong technical contribution to developing technical project level documentation. This role coordinates design, quality, project controls, client liaison and documentation to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with contractual and company requirements. Projects may require project and discipline coordination between multiple offices across PNG, Australia and the South Pacific Islands, with clients potentially based in countries outside Australia.

Role Responsibilities

Coordinate project delivery from initiation through to completion.

Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, disciplines and subconsultants across multiple offices as required.

Prepare project scopes and consultant contract agreements.

Monitor programmes, budgets, risks, actions and deliverables.

Coordinate drawings, specifications, technical reports and design documentation. Undertake quality reviews of engineering design deliverables and maintain QA records.

Preparation of high-quality Technical Specifications, Basis of Design documents and Detailed Design Reports, bringing together discipline specific information to prepare well structured and detailed reports.

Prepare Bills of Quantities and Request for Quotation documentation.

Coordinate client comments, design changes, Requests for Information and other technical queries between disciplines and the client.

Support procurement, contract administration, project variations, invoicing, cost control, forecasts and project budgets.

Conduct meetings and prepare agendas and minutes for distribution and associated action lists that are followed through to completion.

Prepare and update project registers, including RFI registers, drawing lists, client queries and responses.





Support HSE and environmental compliance requirements.

Develop effective client and stakeholder relationships.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or a related discipline.

Eligible for Engineers Australia membership.

Background in technical engineering design and preparing technical documentation.

Strong understanding of technical details and client requirements.

Strong written English and technical documentation skills.

Ability to contribute across both Project Management and Detailed Engineering Design.

Excellent understanding of multi-disciplinary technical details provided across architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil and structural engineering.

Able to read multi-disciplinary technical details and drawings and extract technical details for inclusion into project reports.

At least five years of engineering experience, including experience delivering multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

International or donor-funded project experience will be highly regarded.

Strong understanding of design contracts and their key attributes.

Strong project coordination, engineering design coordination, risk management and quality management capability.

Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office and document control systems.

Skilled communication skills, strong organisational and planning capability, and excellent attention to detail.

Commercial awareness, a cooperative and proactive approach, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while building solid working relationships.
