Box Hill Institute is seeking a commercially minded and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to drive growth across our Higher Education portfolio . With a strong focus on music, contemporary performance and production, you'll identify new business opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, strengthen industry connections and create pathways that support student success.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced business development professional to influence enrolment growth, enhance industry engagement and contribute to the continued success of one of Australia's leading education providers.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed term opportunity with an attractive remuneration package.

About the role
The Business Development Manager, Higher Education will play a key role in identifying, developing and securing new opportunities that strengthen Box Hill Institute's Higher Education offerings, market position and financial sustainability. The role has a particular focus on growing industry engagement, partnership development and student pathways within the music and creative industries while also supporting broader Higher Education growth initiatives.
Working closely with academic, marketing and recruitment teams, you'll cultivate strategic relationships with industry partners,
schools, pathway providers, employers and community organisations to build sustainable growth opportunities and improve student outcomes.
What you'll do:
- Identify, develop and secure new business, partnership and pathway opportunities that drive enrolment and revenue growth.
- Build and manage a pipeline of Higher Education opportunities from prospecting through to successful implementation.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with industry partners, artists, venues, employers, schools, pathway providers and community organisations.
- Collaborate with Student Recruitment, Marketing and academic teams to increase awareness of Box Hill Institute's Higher Education offerings.
- Prepare high-quality proposals, tenders, grant submissions, business cases and partnership agreements.
- Lead and coordinate business development projects, including articulation pathways, industry engagement initiatives and student recruitment activities.
- Represent Box Hill Institute at networking events, industry forums and stakeholder meetings to build market presence and identify new opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities to inform business growth strategies.
- Support the development of industry partnerships that create pathways, work-integrated learning opportunities and graduate employment outcomes.
- Contribute to the achievement of annual revenue, enrolment and partnership growth targets.
What You'll Bring
- Proven ability to identify growth opportunities and develop strategies that drive enrolment, revenue and market expansion.
- Understanding of Higher Education pathways, partnerships, student markets and industry engagement models.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience developing viable business opportunities and managing financial outcomes.
- Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to prepare proposals, tenders, grant submissions and business cases.
- Outstanding networking, negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing priorities.
- Analytical and strategic thinking skills,
with the ability to identify emerging trends and translate opportunities into action.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (such as Salesforce) and Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Education, Higher Education, Music, Business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
