Open Cut Coal Mining Operation, Queensland | 7/7 Roster, Day Shift Only

As the business embarks on this next chapter, they have engaged Pivot to find a Health, Safety and Training Advisor to join the site team on a 7 / 7 day shift only roster.

About the Role

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Training (HST) Manager, this is a hands-on, site-based role supporting the ongoing development, compliance, and day-to-day delivery of the site's safety and training function. You will work closely with the leadership team and workforce to embed strong safety practice across the operation, while managing the reporting, auditing, and administrative rigour that underpins a compliant and well-run HST department.

Safety Management & Compliance

Contribute to the continuous development, improvement, and compliance of the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS), ensuring accuracy and accessibility of all safety documents

Assist with incident investigations, including facilitating ICAM investigations and entering data into Safety Culture

Coaching & Mentoring

Provide safety coaching and mentorship to the leadership team, focusing on quality task observations, safety interactions, and critical tasks

Reporting & Auditing

Complete and issue Health, Safety, and Training reports as required

Ensure timely reporting to Resources Safety and Health Queensland (monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annually)





Injury Management

Maintain strict confidentiality around personnel medical details, ensuring permission is gained before releasing any information

Onboarding & Inductions

Assist the Health, Safety, and Training department with the onboarding process, induction requests, and information management for new starters

Risk Assessments & Inspections

Conduct informal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards

Facilitate Workplace Risk Assessment & Control (WRAC) sessions in line with the annual review schedule

Site Access & Hygiene Monitoring

Manage site access systems and controls, including contractor engagement

Organise and report on health and hygiene monitoring for the site

Required Qualifications & Tickets

Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent) – essential

Previous experience in a Safety Advisor role within the mining or resources sector

Current Standard 11 certification

TAE Certificate and previous experience with training and inductions

Current driver's licence and the right to work in Australia

Proficiency in safety management software (Safety Culture or equivalent) desirable
