We have an amazing opportunity for a Project Manager- Special Projects in Sydney, New South Wales. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our NSW team and lead the delivery of specialised lift, hoist and mast climber projects. This is an autonomous role responsible for managing projects from contract award through design, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning and handover.

Working closely with clients, engineers, suppliers, fabricators and internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for delivering projects safely, on time and within budget while managing commercial and contractual outcomes.

Unlike a traditional Project Engineer role, this position is suited to an experienced project professional who can operate independently, establish systems and controls where required, and take ownership of project outcomes.



This role will report directly to the Operations Manager NSW.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

Project Management:

- Manage projects from contract award through to completion.
- Coordinate design, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning activities.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, contract administration and variations.
- Coordinate clients, consultants, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor project programme, performance and risks.
- Prepare project documentation, reports and project controls.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely and in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Assist Operations Manager and Installation Supervisor with all aspects of project planning
- Identify shortfalls or timeline issues and address accordingly (ie rearranging fabrication schedule to fix any late delivery issues)
- Meet customers and review site delivery timelines, create all documentation for projects etc

Safety and compliance:

- Adhere to group OHS policy and general procedures; complete all project specific safe work procedures in accordance with instructions and consultation with team
- Adhere to customers’ site safety policies and procedures demonstrating the company’s commitment to safety in all dealings and interactions.
- Coordinate with installation supervisors, contractors and client representatives to ensure works are undertaken in accordance with approved safety documentation.
- Manage safety documentation for projects, ie create the Alimak project specific ‘Safety Pack’
- Demonstrate commitment to health and safety through participation in formal and informal discussions, workplace audits and hazard inspections
- Take reasonable care of themselves and others who may be affected by their actions
- Adhere to customers site safety policies and procedures demonstrating the company’s commitment to safety in our dealings / interactions
- Perform at least 2 site audits per month

Attributes:





- Approximately 10+ years' experience in project management, project coordination, construction or engineering.
- Experience delivering projects through the full project lifecycle.
- Knowledge and experience working in the Construction Industry
- Knowledge of temporary works installation procedures – cranes, screening, scaffold, hoists etc
- Application of Alimak products – desirable but not essential
- Certified in Project Management
- Strong commercial and contract administration skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of project outcomes.
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to other areas of the business.
- Problem solving approach providing outcomes that ensure safety and reliability.
- Sense of urgency in attending to issues and working through projects.
- Experience with construction hoists, mast climbers, vertical transport systems or specialised construction equipment will be highly regarded but is not essential.

The candidate must have:

- Current Driver’s License
- Rights to work in Australia
- Experience in Project Planning or Management
- Strong Computer literacy – especially Microsoft excel, word, powerpoint
- Civil, Mechanical Engineering Degree or Project/Construction Management Degree
- CAD and drafting experience, entry level is OK
