Batch Mewing Lawyers is seeking a Construction Lawyer with approximately 1–3 years PAE who wants more than simply being another junior lawyer in a large team.

Working closely with experienced Principals and senior lawyers, you will gain meaningful involvement in matters, direct mentoring and exposure across both front-end construction and major disputes. As our Sydney practice continues to develop, there is genuine opportunity to take on greater responsibility, build strong client relationships and grow your career with the team.

Our construction practice advises clients across Australia on major projects, contracting, security of payment, project delivery and complex construction disputes.

The opportunity

You will work across a broad mix of construction and major projects matters, including:

- reviewing, drafting, advising on and negotiating construction contracts;
- advising clients on project delivery, contract administration, risk and claims management;
- advising on rights and obligations under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 (NSW) ;
- working on complex construction disputes and litigated claims;
- drafting pleadings, affidavits,



advices and correspondence;
- briefing and working with barristers, technical experts and industry consultants; and
- developing direct relationships with clients across the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Importantly, the role is not confined to one type of construction work. You will have the opportunity to develop capability across both front-end advisory and construction disputes , giving you a solid foundation from which to develop your preferred area of practice as your career progresses.

About you





We are interested in hearing from lawyers with approximately 1–3 years post-admission experience who are ambitious about developing a career in construction and projects law.

Ideally, you will have some experience in construction law, infrastructure, major projects, commercial litigation, contract advisory or disputes.

You will also bring:

- strong legal drafting, research and analytical skills;
- clear and confident written and verbal communication;
- sound judgement and a commercially minded approach;
- strong attention to detail;
- enthusiasm for learning and taking on increasing responsibility;
- the ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team; and
- a genuine interest in developing your career in construction and major projects.

Coming from commercial litigation, disputes or contracts? We are also open to lawyers with strong transferable experience who are genuinely interested in specialising in construction and projects.
