Senior Export Controls Specialist - Defence / Guided Weapons

We are seeking an experienced Senior Export Controls Specialist to support a major Defence environment, with a focus on guided weapons, controlled technology and international import/export compliance .

This role will provide senior advice across export controls, licensing, customs, technical data and international trade requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide advice on export/import compliance and trade controls
- Prepare and review Australian export and supply permit applications
- Support compliance with ITAR, EAR, DSGL and Defence Trade Controls
- Review international export authorisations and technical agreements
- Support the movement and control of Defence hardware and technical data
- Liaise with government authorities, customs brokers, freight forwarders and internal stakeholders
- Conduct compliance reviews and support corrective actions
- Improve export control processes, procedures and training




- Provide guidance to less experienced team members

About You

You will have strong experience in Defence export controls, international trade compliance or EXIM , ideally within guided weapons, aerospace, Defence technology or another highly regulated environment.

Experience with the following will be highly regarded:

- ITAR and EAR
- Defence Strategic Goods List (DSGL)
- Defence Trade Controls Act
- Export permits and Technical Assistance Agreements
- Customs and Incoterms
- Supply chain and logistics compliance

Essential Requirements

- Minimum active Baseline security clearance
- Robust export/import compliance experience
- Defence or highly regulated industry experience
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical advice
