Our Client
Our client is a growing financial services business with a strong focus on supporting Australian businesses through a range of commercial lending solutions.
Operating in a fast-paced, progressive environment, the business continues to grow and offers Credit Analysts the opportunity to work exclusively across business lending, rather than splitting their time between consumer and commercial credit.
This is an excellent prospect for someone with existing commercial or SME lending experience who wants to deepen their exposure to business credit, work across a variety of lending scenarios and join a strong team.
The Role
Reporting to an exceptional Credit Manager, you will be responsible for assessing commercial and SME lending applications, working across products including Line of Credit and Asset Finance.
This is a genuinely commercial credit role. You will analyse bank statements, financial statements and supporting information, identify key credit risks and prepare structured credit recommendations in line with lending policy and risk appetite.
You will also work closely with BDMs, internal relationship teams, customers and brokers to understand transactions, clarify information and help structure appropriate commercial lending solutions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assessing commercial and SME lending applications
- Analysing bank statements, financial statements and cash flow
- Identifying key credit risks and documenting findings
- Preparing structured credit recommendations
- Working within DLA where applicable, or escalating for approval
- Structuring commercial lending solutions in line with credit policy
- Working across a variety of products including Asset Finance and Line of Credit
- Partnering with BDMs and internal stakeholders on transaction assessment
- Communicating directly with customers and brokers where required
- Ensuring applications meet underwriting and documentation standards
- Contributing to ongoing process improvement within the credit function
Other benefits include:
- Permanent position
- 3 days in the office / 2 days WFH
- 100% business and commercial lending exposure
- Excellent Credit Manager with a proven track record of developing people
- Exposure across Asset Finance and Line of Credit products
- Fast-paced and growing business
- Strong interaction with BDMs, brokers and customers
- Opportunity to broaden your commercial credit capability
The Successful Candidate
This role will suit someone who already has exposure to commercial or business lending and wants to continue building their career within that space.
You may currently be working within business banking, commercial finance, asset finance, SME lending or a non-bank lender.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Previous commercial or SME credit assessment experience
- Exposure to business lending, rather than purely consumer credit
- Experience analysing bank statements and financial statements
- Strong cash flow analysis and financial interpretation skills
- Understanding of commercial credit risk and lending structures
- Previous commercial or business lending DLA would be highly regarded
- Confidence dealing with BDMs, brokers and customers
- Strong attention to detail and structured decision-making
- The ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced environment
The position description specifically calls for experience in commercial or SME credit assessment, including financial and bank statement analysis, together with exposure to business lending products.
