Little Penguin Kilsyth Pty Ltd LITTLE PENGUIN KILSYTH PTY LTD t/a Little Penguin Early Learning Centre is a nurturing and inclusive early childhood education and care provider focused on supporting each child’s individual learning and development. We are currently seeking a full time Child Care Worker to join our team, with the role based in Kilsyth, VIC.

This position is 38 hours per week, and the ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of relevant experience and hold a Diploma qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care. A competitive salary of $79,000 to $84,000, plus superannuation, is on offer.

Assist with planning and preparing age-appropriate learning experiences, materials and equipment that reflect children's interests, abilities and developmental needs. Facilitate structured and spontaneous activities including creative arts, sensory play, music, storytelling, games, imaginative play and indoor and outdoor exploration. Engage children through reading, conversations, songs and interactive play to encourage communication, curiosity, creativity and participation.

Actively supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, recreational activities, transitions and group experiences, identifying and responding to potential risks. Guide children's behaviour and social development using positive strategies that encourage cooperation, sharing, empathy, conflict resolution and respectful relationships. Supervise and support children's daily routines, including meals, rest periods, transitions,



dressing, toileting and other personal care needs while encouraging independence.

Maintain children's hygiene through appropriate handwashing, toileting, nappy changing and infection-control practices in accordance with service procedures. Observe children's learning, interests, behaviour and developmental progress and contribute observations to the assessment and planning cycle under the guidance of the Lead Educator. Maintain children's learning records and portfolios by documenting experiences, participation, achievements and emerging interests to support future planning.

Adapt activities and interactions to support children with different abilities, developmental needs, cultural backgrounds and learning styles. Build warm and respectful relationships with children, providing encouragement, comfort and reassurance to support their confidence, wellbeing and sense of belonging. Prepare and maintain safe, stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments and regularly check toys, resources and equipment for hazards or maintenance requirements.

Support children's health and nutritional needs, including dietary and allergy requirements, and assist with first aid,



medication and health procedures where appropriately trained and authorised. Follow child protection, supervision and safety procedures and promptly report concerns, injuries, illnesses, hazards or unusual incidents to the Lead Educator or Nominated Supervisor. Follow procedures for children's arrival, departure and authorised collection and maintain appropriate supervision during excursions, outdoor activities and emergency procedures.

Communicate professionally with parents and carers regarding children's routines, wellbeing, participation and daily experiences, and share relevant information with the Lead Educator. Work collaboratively with the Lead Educator and other educators to implement the Early Years Learning Framework and contribute to program planning, reflection and continuous improvement.

Complete required records relating to children's care, incidents, injuries, illness, medication and other regulatory matters accurately and promptly. Participate in staff meetings, professional development and quality improvement activities and contribute positively to the effective operation of the room and service. Perform all duties in accordance with the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard, Early Years Learning Framework, child-safe practices and Little Penguin ELC policies and procedures.
