Job Description

Lakes Hyundai The Lakes Hyundai Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Dealership Accountant to join its North Lakes dealership. Working closely with the Financial Controller and management team, the successful applicant will support the dealership’s financial reporting, accounting operations, compliance and internal controls.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering a salary of $80,000–$90,000 per annum plus superannuation.

Task & responsibilities

- Supporting the Financial Controller in the day-to-day financial management and accounting operations of the dealerships;
- Managing and performing accounting functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable;
- Processing daily banking transactions, customer refunds and pay-outs;
- Completing month-end accounting processes through to Trial Balance and ensuring financial reporting deadlines are achieved;
- Preparing and maintaining bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations;
- Preparing and assisting with the analysis of financial and management reports;
- Reviewing financial transactions and maintaining accurate accounting records;
- Conducting reconciliations and assisting with internal financial audits;
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning;
- Monitoring financial performance and identifying discrepancies or areas requiring investigation;




- Assisting in ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial controls and regulatory requirements;
- Identifying and assisting with improvements to accounting systems, controls and financial processes;
- Working closely with the Financial Controller and management team regarding the financial performance and accounting requirements of the dealerships.

Qualification & experience

To be successful in this position, applicants should have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a closely related discipline;
- Relevant professional accounting experience;
- Experience in an automotive dealership, retail or similar commercial accounting environment is highly regarded;
- Demonstrated experience in month-end accounting and Trial Balance preparation;
- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and general ledger reconciliations;
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel;
- Experience with Titan DMS or another dealership management system is highly regarded;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills;
- Ability to work accurately and meet financial reporting deadlines;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team;
- and CPA/CA qualification or progress towards a professional accounting qualification is highly regarded.
