Position

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 4, 2026.

Yanchep Secondary College (SC) is committed to providing young people with a high quality and comprehensive education that allows our students and teachers to reach their potential. We have programs for students from Year 7 to Year 12 with many pathways for students to succeed, including university, further training, or employment.

We offer a broad, high-level curriculum encompassing academic programs and vocational courses to provide students with opportunities to pursue learning interests that inspire and challenge them.

The college is part of the Metropolitan Teaching Program for hard to staff schools. Teaching staff receive an additional allowance on top of their normal conditions.

The Role

The successful applicant should be able to teach a range of courses in Design and Technology contexts (woodwork and metalwork), including vocational courses and senior secondary level courses. Recent experience in teaching senior school courses and having certificate course currency is highly desirable.

The successful applicant should be a passionate and dedicated educator who is highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They would provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge and understandings related to Design and Technology. Our learning programs provide opportunities for students to make links between content and skill development, and enables students to be curious learners, supported by a variety of approaches to learning.

The successful applicant should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning. They will ideally be innovative, knowledgeable,



and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area. They should be reflective in assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment as well as have experience in a wide range of teaching models and differentiating the curriculum. The successful applicant will ideally be a teacher who engages their students and challenges them to achieve their personal best.

As a reflective practitioner, the successful applicant will ideally possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs.

- hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. More information about employment eligibility can be found on our website.
- apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
