We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our client within the Manufacturing sector. This contract position will play a critical role in progressing product design, prototype development and engineering documentation to support testing, validation and future production activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Review, update and optimise existing mechanical designs and assemblies for a specific product.
- Create and modify 3D models, drawings and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
- Develop preliminary component designs and prototypes for product trials and validation activities.
- Work with plastic component designs, manufacturability considerations and product improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy and version control.
- Migrate and manage engineering files within the SolidWorks PDM environment.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are practical and production-ready.




- Utilise 3D printing technologies to support rapid prototyping and design iterations.
- Identify design issues and implement engineering solutions within project timeframes.
- Ensure documentation accuracy, quality standards and system integrity are maintained throughout the project.

Profile

- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical engineering / design experience.
- Experience designing products and components using plastics.
- SolidWorks capability, including modelling, assemblies and drawing creation.
- Previous experience administering or working within SolidWorks PDM environments.
- Hands-on experience with prototype development and 3D printing technologies.
- Robust understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation control skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical, hands‑on approach.

Job Offer

- Competitive hourly rate of $66 to $72 AUD.
