Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner – Community Role

Full-time or Part time | Port Macquarie Region NSW | Multidisciplinary Team

The Opportunity

Join our growing Positive Behaviour Support team in the Port Macquarie region of NSW , working alongside our established local multidisciplinary team to support NDIS participants to achieve meaningful outcomes.

We're looking for an experienced Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner who is passionate about person-centred practice, understanding the reasons behind behaviours of concern and developing practical, evidence-informed strategies that improve quality of life.

You'll work collaboratively with participants, families, support coordinators, support workers and our local Allied Health team to understand individual needs, develop effective behaviour support strategies and build the capacity of the people around each participant.

The Role

You'll use your clinical expertise to:

Complete functional behaviour assessments and develop evidence-informed behaviour support plans

Develop practical, person-centred strategies aligned with participants' NDIS goals

Work collaboratively with participants, families, support coordinators and support teams

Provide training, coaching and guidance to support workers and other stakeholders

Monitor progress and review strategies to ensure they remain effective and meaningful

Support the reduction of behaviours of concern through proactive and preventative approaches

Collaborate with our local multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated and holistic support

Identify opportunities to build participant independence, communication,



emotional regulation and quality of life

Ensure behaviour support practices are consistent with NDIS requirements and contemporary PBS principles

Maintain high-quality clinical documentation, assessments and reports

You'll have the opportunity to work closely with OTs, Physios and other Allied Health clinicians within our local and national team, creating a genuinely collaborative approach to participant care.

About You

We're looking for a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner who is:

Experienced and confident working in NDIS or community-based practice

Experienced in functional behaviour assessment and behaviour support planning

Strong in clinical reasoning and developing practical, person-centred strategies

Confident working collaboratively with families, support workers and other professionals

A strong communicator with excellent documentation and report‑writing skills

Comfortable working autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team

Passionate about improving quality of life and supporting meaningful participant outcomes

Strengths-based, compassionate and solutions-focused in their approach

Committed to evidence-informed and ethical PBS practice

Experienced in working within the NDIS framework
