As an Army Officer, you’ll take the lead of a team of highly capable soldiers in current and exciting environments. You’ll pick up the fundamentals of being a leader: mentorship, influence, problem solving, decision making, and much more. There’s no leadership experience required. You’ll receive world‑class training to reach your full leadership potential at the Royal Military College (RMC).

Common Duties

Lead a team of highly capable soldiers

Provide leadership and management to soldiers and junior officers within your division

Mentor, influence and problem‑solve in different situations

There are 13 full‑time specialisations within the Army Officer pathway. Once you’ve completed training, you’ll be ready to lead troops in one of 13 specialisations. Competitive salary + 16.4% Generous Superannuation

Starting salary while training: $69,365 per year

Salary after completing training: $97,168 per year

Your salary will continue to increase based on your rank and years of service.

Location

Following your initial military training in Canberra, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia, depending on your specialisation.

For this role, you must:

Be at least 17 at the time of appointment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 12 education (or equivalent) with passes in four tertiary accredited subjects including English.
