Leading Hand Retaining Walls/Structural Landscape & General Construction

The Leading Hand is a hands-on site leadership role supporting protected, efficient and high-quality delivery of Brisbane Concrete Sleeper Retaining Walls (BCSRW) projects and, as required from time to time, BTV Builds construction projects. The role works alongside site crews while coordinating daily tasks, plant, materials, subcontractors and site records. It translates drawings, engineering requirements, programme and supervisor direction into safe and productive work.

Key responsibilities

- Assist with site establishment, set-out, access, deliveries, sequencing and daily planning
- Allocate and coordinate tasks under the responsible manager or supervisor
- Read and apply drawings, engineering details, specifications and instructions
- Perform retaining-wall, civil, landscaping and general construction work
- Operate plant when trained, competent and authorised
- Coordinate labour, subcontractors,



materials and plant
- Monitor progress and report delays, constraints and additional work
- Check materials, quantities and completed work against requirements
- Give clear task briefings and practical guidance
- Confirm workers understand methods, quality requirements and safety controls

About you

- Experience in retaining walls, civil, landscaping, concreting or general construction
- Experience guiding a small crew or readiness to step into leadership
- Ability to read construction and engineering drawings
- Practical knowledge of SWMS and site controls
- Current Australian driver's licence and White Card
- Physical capacity for hands-on construction work
