Preschool Director 12 Month Contract Position (with view to permanency)

St George's Preschool is seeking an experienced and visionary Teaching Director to lead our preschool in Eastwood, NSW. This is a 12 month full-time contract position with a view to becoming permanent . Commencing the beginning of Term 1 2027. A supported transition into the role, including paid handover time with the current Director before the end of this year or during January, would be ideal depending on the successful applicant’s availability. Hours are: Monday to Friday from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm along with paid school holidays. The role includes three days each week for shared educational leadership and administrative responsibilities and two days teaching in our Thursday-Friday group.

Key responsibilities

- Provide educational and operational leadership to ensure the preschool meets all regulatory requirements and maintains high standards of early childhood education
- Manage staffing, including recruitment, training, performance management and professional development of educators and support staff
- Develop and implement strategic plans and policies that align with the National Quality Framework and early childhood education best practices
- Oversee curriculum development and implementation, ensuring programs are developmentally appropriate and responsive to children's individual needs
- Maintain compliance with all relevant legislation, including the National Quality Standard, child protection laws and occupational health and safety requirements
- Manage the preschool's budget and financial resources to ensure sustainable and effective operations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, staff and the local community,



fostering open communication and engagement including engagement with and being inclusive of Macquarie Anglican Church interaction and church activities.
- Conduct regular quality improvement processes, including self-assessment and responding to feedback from educators, families and regulatory bodies
- Ensure appropriate child protection and child safe policies and procedures are implemented and understood by all staff
- Lead staff meetings, professional development sessions and collaborative planning to support continuous improvement

Must be prepared to take on the Nominated Supervisor Role and Responsibilities

- An ACECQA-approved early childhood teaching qualification, or a qualification assessed by ACECQA as equivalent.
- Current NSW teacher accreditation.
- A current NSW Working with Children Check clearance that can be verified before commencement.
- Current approved child-protection training (CHCPRT025)
- A National Police Check completed within the last 3 months
- Current first aid, CPR, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis management qualifications required for education and care settings.
- At least three years successful leadership or management experience in an early childhood education and care service.
- Thorough knowledge of the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard, Early Years Learning Framework V2.0 and contemporary play-based pedagogy.
- Strong knowledge of the NSW Child Safe Standards, mandatory reporting, reportable conduct, professional boundaries and child-focused complaint handling.
- Demonstrated ability to recognise and respond appropriately to child-safety concerns, disclosures and allegations.
- Demonstrated commitment to children’s agency, voice, inclusion, cultural safety and participation in decisions affecting them.
- Strong curriculum leadership and the ability to support educators through mentoring, critical reflection and professional learning.
- Experience in staffing, performance development, financial management, budgeting and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- A commitment to ethical practice, continuous improvement and ongoing professional development.

St George's Preschool is a small community based preschool operating on the Macquarie Anglican Church site in Eastwood. The successful applicant will respect and appreciate this setting and bring an inclusive, open approach to engaging with church-led community initiatives. We are committed to nurturing the development and wellbeing of 3-5 year old children. We have 27 children per day who attend one of two groups, 3 days on Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday or two days on Thursday and Friday. Child-safe recruitment process

St George’s Preschool uses child-safe recruitment and screening practices. Shortlisted applicants will be required to participate in a structured child-safety interview and provide evidence of their identity, qualifications, employment history, NSW Working with Children Check and required certifications.

2 professional referees will need to be provided with an application and will be contacted directly and asked questions about the applicant’s suitability to work with children, professional conduct and maintenance of appropriate boundaries. Preferred applicants will also be required to complete relevant declarations and provide any further screening information lawfully required for the position.
