Edged Group is a proudly Australian-owned manufacturer specialising in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of waste and recycling equipment. Our products are used across commercial, industrial and municipal applications throughout Australia.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our South Windsor team.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who understands not only how to design equipment, but how to develop practical solutions that can be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively. Working closely with management, production and suppliers, you will play a key role in both product improvement and new equipment development.

About the role

Reporting to the Managing Director, your responsibilities will include:

- Working closely with management and production leading hands to understand project requirements, manufacturing constraints and design objectives
- Designing, refining and improving Edged Group's range of waste and recycling equipment
- Developing new products and equipment from concept through to manufacture
- Creating and maintaining 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Producing accurate manufacturing, fabrication and assembly drawings
- Preparing site layout drawings, equipment arrangement drawings and concept designs to support customer proposals, quotations and project delivery
- Generating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation




- Supporting production teams with technical guidance and resolving design or manufacturing issues
- Liaising with suppliers regarding components, materials and manufacturing processes
- Participating in product development, testing and design validation
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, standardisation and manufacturing efficiency

About You

- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (essential)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing workplace
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles
- Experience designing fabricated steel structures, weldments and mechanical assemblies
- Experience producing detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings
- Experience developing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities

Highly Desirable

- Experience with heavy machinery, industrial equipment, waste and recycling equipment, material handling equipment or mobile plant
- Workshop, fabrication or production engineering experience
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including laser cutting, folding, machining and welding
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and machinery safety requirements
