About the Role

As an International Student Adviser, you'll provide trusted, confidential advice and support across personal, cultural, academic, welfare and safety matters. You'll manage a diverse caseload, support students through complex circumstances and critical incidents, and work with internal and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.

You'll also contribute to orientation, workshops, events and proactive student programs, helping strengthen connection and engagement across our international community.

Working collaboratively across Swinburne, you'll provide advice on international student needs, support compliance with the ESOS Act, National Code and related legislation, and identify opportunities to continuously improve our services.

The role is currently based at Hawthorn, with work across Swinburne campuses as required.

About You

You're a highly capable student services or advisory professional who combines strong customer service, cultural awareness, empathy and sound judgement. You're confident managing sensitive matters, balancing competing priorities and working within a regulated setting.

You'll bring:





- Experience supporting international students and a strong customer-service focus.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
- Strong case management, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage sensitive matters and competing priorities within a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of the ESOS framework and National Code relating to international student support.
- Experience coordinating student programs or events is desirable.

Qualifications

A relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education/training, is required.

You'll also need, or be willing to obtain, a valid Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate, and satisfy Swinburne's police check requirements.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check.
