Byron Community College (BCC) is a not-for-profit, community-focused Registered Training Organisation (RTO 90013) with a proud 32-year history of providing education, employment and wellbeing opportunities across the Northern Rivers.

We are growing. With campuses in Mullumbimby, and training rooms in Byron Bay and Tweed Heads, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Vocational Education Manager to join our team and lead the continued development and delivery of our VET programs.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, the Vocational Education Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across BCC's VET programs.

You will be responsible for ensuring our vocational education programs are high quality, financially sustainable, compliant and responsive to the needs of our students, employers and local communities.

The role will work across BCC locations in Mullumbimby, Byron Bay and Tweed Heads, with travel between locations required.

- Providing leadership and direction across BCC's VET delivery
- Overseeing the planning, development and continuous improvement of VET programs
- Supporting the development of new qualifications, courses and training opportunities in response to community and industry needs
- Ensuring compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations and relevant NSW Government VET funding requirements
- Leading and supporting trainers and assessors to deliver high-quality training and assessment
- Monitoring student participation, completion, outcomes and quality indicators




- Working with the administration and management teams to ensure effective student and training support
- Managing VET resources, budgets and delivery against funding and organisational priorities
- Supporting audit and regulatory processes, including ASQA and funding body requirements
- Building strong relationships with industry, community organisations, employers, schools, government and other stakeholders
- Identifying opportunities to expand BCC's vocational education offering, particularly in the Tweed and Northern Rivers
- Contributing to organisational strategy, planning and continuous improvement as a member of the management team.

About you

We are looking for an experienced VET professional who combines strong compliance and operational capability with genuine commitment to community education.

You will ideally have:

- Significant experience in a VET management or senior VET leadership role
- Strong knowledge of the Australian VET sector, including RTO compliance and quality requirements
- Experience with Smart and Skilled and/or other government-funded training programs
- Demonstrated experience leading trainers, assessors and VET teams
- Strong understanding of training and assessment quality and continuous improvement
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience developing and implementing new VET programs
- Strong financial and resource management skills




- The ability to work strategically while also being comfortable getting involved in the day-to-day operation of a small and agile organisation
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and a commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
- A relevant VET qualification and/or management qualification will be highly regarded.
