About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join the ABC’s Payroll Services team in Adelaide on a 9-month contract.

Reporting to the Payroll Team Lead this is a hands‑on role where you’ll work across the day‑to‑day delivery of payroll for a complex national workforce, including payroll processing, reconciliations, termination payments, superannuation and employee entitlements.

You’ll also be a trusted point of contact for more complex payroll queries, interpreting enterprise agreement conditions and providing clear, practical advice to employees, managers and People & Culture teams.

Key responsibilities include

- Process complex payroll transactions, reconciliations, adjustments and termination payments.
- Interpret and apply enterprise agreement conditions, legislation and employee entitlements.
- Provide specialist advice and resolve complex payroll queries.
- Support payroll activities across rostering, time recording, superannuation, workers compensation and ATO reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and ways of working.
- Contribute to payroll projects, process improvements and knowledge sharing across the team.

About You

You’ll be an experienced payroll professional with strong technical knowledge and the ability to confidently work through complex payroll and entitlement matters. You’ll be highly accurate, organised and comfortable working to payroll deadlines, while providing a responsive and skilled service to stakeholders.

You’ll bring

- Strong hands‑on payroll processing experience within a complex environment.
- Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and employment conditions.
- Experience interpreting and applying awards and/or enterprise agreements.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good Excel skills and confidence working across payroll and HR systems.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service‑focused approach.

Experience using SAP in a payroll environment will be highly regarded.
