Reporting to the Workshop Manager – Heavy Fabrication, you will be responsible for the frontline supervision and coordination of our workshop team. Working closely with the Workshop Manager and Leading Hands, you will coordinate daily priorities, labour and workflow across multiple work fronts and ensure jobs continue to progress safely, efficiently and to the required standard. You need to understand the work in front of the team, know where jobs are at and be able to identify what needs to happen next. This role is about leadership, standards, accountability and delivery. You will be expected to set the standard and drive it across safety, workmanship, quality, productivity, cleanliness and workshop presentation.

Key responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate daily heavy fabrication workshop activities.
- Work closely with the Workshop Manager and Leading Hands to drive daily priorities, labour and workflow.
- Provide direction and support to Leading Hands across their respective work fronts.
- Lead and support boilermakers, apprentices, trade assistants and subcontractors.
- Drive job progress, productivity and agreed deliverables.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professionally presented workshop, yard and facilities.
- Set clear expectations and consistently drive workshop standards and non-negotiables.
- Hold people accountable for their performance, workmanship, behaviour and delivery.
- Build and maintain a strong, positive and high-performing workshop culture.

About you





- Trade qualification as a Boilermaker/Fabricator or similar heavy engineering trade.
- Previous experience as a Workshop Supervisor, Leading Hand or similar leadership position.
- Strong practical knowledge of heavy fabrication and welding.
- Strong understanding of workshop activities, workflow and production.
- Experience with heavy mining products such as truck trays, excavator buckets, dragline buckets and dozer blades.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, repair scopes and inspection reports.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage people, priorities and multiple work fronts.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Strong computer literacy including JAQ, Xero, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, electronic job schedules and tracking systems, digital drawings and electronic documentation.
