Industrial Automation Engineer role focused on automation, software development and process optimisation to support commercial-scale STEM manufacturing ops.

About the company/role:

- Opportunity to join an innovative engineering and technology environment transitioning from R&D; to commercial Silicon manufacturing.
- The Industrial Automation Engineer will support the design, programming, commissioning and optimisation of industrial control systems.
- Working closely with the Operational Technology Engineer, this role provides the interface between physical equipment and digital control systems.
- Key focus on improving process safety, efficiency, stability and repeatability while minimising manual intervention.
- Permanent Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

- Contribute to the design, development and maintenance of PLC software for industrial and research systems.
- Contribute to the development and support of custom .NET/C# applications.
- Assist with specification, procurement, installation and commissioning of control equipment.
- Assist with implementation and support process automation.
- Develop and maintain process monitoring tools, historian databases and dashboards.




- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvement, process optimisation and production scale-up activities.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, safety and operational requirements.
- Due to government restrictions, Australian citizenship and ability to gain NV1 security clearance is essential

Skills/experience:

- Degree-qualified Engineer in Mechatronics, Biomedical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
- Several years of post-graduate industry experience within engineering, automation or manufacturing environments.
- Strong coding and software development capability is essential.
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial process automation.
- Experience with C#, WPF and Git.
- Knowledge of any of the following; SCADA, HMI, Linux, Docker, InfluxDB, Grafana or industrial communications protocols would be advantageous.
- Experience within STEM industries such as medical devices, advanced manufacturing or industrial technology environments highly regarded.
- Strong communication, documentation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively while also operating autonomously.
