Teach, Lead and Shape the Future of Social Work Education

The National Academy of Professional Studies (NAPS) is seeking passionate, experienced, and academically accomplished educators to join our growing Bachelor of Social Work team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the preparation of future social workers through high-quality teaching, scholarship, curriculum development, and academic leadership. Appointments may be made at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, depending on qualifications, experience, academic leadership, and demonstrated contribution to teaching, scholarship, and the profession.

About the Role

As Lecturer/Senior Lecturer you will contribute to the delivery, coordination, continuous improvement, and quality assurance of the Bachelor of Social Work program.

The role will involve teaching across face-to-face and online learning environments, developing engaging curriculum and assessment materials, supporting student success, and contributing to scholarship, research, and broader academic activities.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring graduates are equipped with the professional knowledge, skills, and ethical foundations required for contemporary social work practice.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A Masters or PhD in Social Work, with relevant postgraduate research qualifications.





Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

A current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.

Demonstrated experience teaching and coordinating units within a higher education workplace.

Experience designing, developing and reviewing curriculum, learning resources, assessments, and teaching materials.

Experience delivering high-quality learning experiences in both online and face-to-face settings.

Contemporary social work practice experience and the ability to integrate theory and practice in teaching.

A commitment to student-centred learning and excellence in teaching and learning.

Evidence of scholarly activity, research, publications, professional engagement, or other forms of academic contribution.

Experience supervising student placements, research projects, and/or honours students.

Strong organisational, administrative, and time-management skills.

Demonstrated experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse student cohorts and the ability to foster inclusive, supportive, and student-centred learning environments.

A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, you will:





Deliver engaging and contemporary teaching within the Bachelor of Social Work program.

Coordinate units and contribute to course development and enhancement.

Design, develop, review, and maintain curriculum, assessment, and learning materials.

Lead or contribute to curriculum renewal and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure teaching and assessment practices align with contemporary pedagogical approaches and regulatory requirements.

Support student learning, academic progression, and professional development.

Supervise student placements, research projects, and honours students where appropriate.

Engage in scholarship, research, and professional practice activities relevant to the discipline.

Contribute to academic quality assurance, accreditation, and compliance requirements.

Participate in course reviews, curriculum innovation, and the development of new learning opportunities.

Assist with assessment moderation and the finalisation of academic results.

Contribute to academic governance activities, committees, and faculty meetings.

Maintain compliance with TEQSA, CRICOS, Higher Education Standards Framework requirements, and AASW accreditation standards.

Contribute to a collegial, inclusive, and high-performing academic culture.
